The transaction, executed by UniCredit and managed through Weltix’s digital register, leverages the BlockInvest technology infrastructure in compliance with the FinTech Decree
Milan, December 19, 2025 — BlockInvest announces that it has provided the technological infrastructure for the digitalization and registration on a public blockchain of Italy’s first tokenized structured note addressed to private investors, issued by UniCredit within its Wealth Management segment.
The transaction was carried out through BlockInvest’s platform and the digital register operated by Weltix, in compliance with the FinTech Decree, and follows shortly after the first native digital minibond structured by UniCredit the previous week.
The product, tailor-made for professional clients within UniCredit’s Wealth segment, features capital protection and returns indexed to Euribor 3M. The registration of the instrument on a public blockchain enables a fully digital management of the product lifecycle, reducing the operational complexity typical of traditional processes and ensuring enhanced traceability of transactions.
The role of BlockInvest
BlockInvest provided the technological platform enabling:
-
the digitalization of the financial instrument in accordance with the FinTech Decree
-
the representation of the instrument on a public blockchain
-
integration with the digital register operated by Weltix in its role as authorized Register Operator
A process traditionally based on fragmented operational workflows was managed through a unified digital infrastructure aligned with regulatory requirements, allowing UniCredit to test an end-to-end process for a use case dedicated to private clients.
Tokenization in support of wealth management
The structured note, intended for professional clients within UniCredit’s Wealth segment, demonstrates how tokenization can also be applied to sophisticated investment products while fully complying with regulatory requirements and investor protection safeguards.
Thanks to the use of DLT:
-
issuance and settlement timelines are significantly reduced
-
transaction traceability is native and verifiable on a public ledger
-
operational processes are more efficient compared to traditional models
Towards a new generation of investment instruments
This transaction confirms the flexibility of the BlockInvest infrastructure in supporting different use cases through the same technological foundation.
Lorenzo Rigatti, Founder of BlockInvest, commented:
“We are delighted to have supported UniCredit in this transaction, which demonstrates the extraordinary flexibility and speed of our solution. The BlockInvest infrastructure once again proves to be a catalyst for efficiency, enabling UniCredit, as a leader in the adoption of innovative solutions, to rapidly create tailor-made products for Wealth clients. We are bringing T+0 efficiency and blockchain transparency to even the most sophisticated financial instruments, contributing to positioning Italy as a leader in the tokenization of financial instruments.”
